I have a history of being very physically active. I found over the years I was only doing aerobic exercising and had neglected the weight component. I was feeling it!
The lack of strength was becoming very noticeable in activities for daily living, such as carrying groceries, doing housework, and I didn’t feel like I could propel myself when I went for a run. At 61 years old I wanted to improve my health and physical abilities for many years to come and my self-motivation was lacking. I knew I wouldn’t use a gym like the Y. I didn’t like the “big box” atmosphere or the very large classes one finds at those type of gyms.
Lucky for me I found Peace Thru Strength now Strength for Life. I really like the small group work outs and the personal attention/instruction that goes with it. The approach is very methodical and personalized. There is a lot of instruction throughout the small group work out and you become friendly and supportive of the others in the class. I really like the community that has developed. Best of all, I am getting great results.
I am so much stronger and confident. I feel it in everything I do. I can lift things and work around the house without fatigue or injuring myself. This summer I found it much easier to hike mountains I considered very tough to climb in the past. My endurance is excellent not to mention my heart rate and blood pressure. I even tried technical rock climbing for the first time this fall. The guides were amazed at my strength and flexibility.
Thanks to Ed and Jim at Strength for Life for getting me to this point.
