Our philosophy at Strength for Life is about building strength in all aspects of our lives – physical, intellectual and emotional. We strive the develop the whole person. Strength training is about more than just lifting weights. The pushup is a good example and can be used as a metaphor for life.
We push ourselves to be better when we work hard and encounter barriers that try to push us away. We push back against obstacles to achieve what’s important in our lives. Our parents, teachers and co-workers push us to improve in work, sport and life. We push ourselves to get up when we fall down and fail. We push away the things that may harm us or our family. We push ourselves out of our comfort zone to learn new things and grow. We push ourselves to get up in the morning, go to work, complete unpleasant tasks because we know that is the only way to reach our goals. We get pushed by life each and every day. We need to be strong to push back and to push ahead.
The pushup is a full body exercise that teaches us to stay strong. In the pushup we use our entire body to lower and raise ourselves up. Just like in life, we need enough strength to be able to push ourselves up when we experience life’s ups and downs.
Over the next 30 days we are going to explore every aspect of the pushup. We will look at how to complete your first pushup, how to use the proper form, how to become stronger at the pushup and how to do variations of the pushup. Follow our posts, checklists, motivational quotes and videos to improve your physical, emotional and intellectual strength.
You can also take this opportunity to push yourself to learn something new this month or work on your emotional health.
Take a quick video of your pushup today and at the end of the 30 days to see how far you have progressed.
