Change Your Mindset to Lose Weight.

Updated: Aug 15, 2019

Turn on the TV, listen to the radio, glance at Social Media and you will see numerous ads about losing weight and getting in shape. Most will focus on quick weight loss fads. Weight loss for its own sake is a mistake. If you are losing weight because of some false sense of beauty, or because someone said you were too heavy, then you have already failed.

Your weight is just one factor in your health and wellness journey. The number on the scale should not dictate how you feel about yourself. Too many people let their weight dictate their happiness. Your weight is just a number with little relevance to health, wellness, happiness or even beauty.

If the scale is the only frame we use to judge ourselves and others, we will never be happy!

Change Your Mindset to Lose Weight. When it comes to weight loss, people tend to think in two different ways. They either have a fixed-mindset or a growth-mindset. People with a fixed-mindset believe things are carved in stone. They avoid challenges, give up easily or lose interest when something gets hard and see their effort as fruitless. The first time they stray from their diet or fail to see a change on the scale, they stop or move to a new diet.

On the other hand, people with a growth-mindset embrace challenges, persist when the going gets tough, and see effort as a way to master new skills. Losing weight becomes a process, part of their journey to health and fitness.

At Strength for Life, we have developed a program that addresses weight loss as part of health and fitness and not just a goal for its own sake. The SFL Total Transformation Challenge focuses on lifestyle habits, exercise and proper nutrition, not the number on the scale.

The Strength for Life Total Transformation Program is about building a lifestyle that is going to last. This is not a quick fix or a crash diet. In fact, get rid of the word “diet” from your vocabulary.

Here’s what you will get with the Total Transformation Program:

8 Interactive Presentations on Nutrition, Fitness, and Healthy behaviors

8 Small Group Personal Training Classes

Unlimited access to our small group fitness classes

Recipes and Food Logs

Newsletter with Fitness and Nutrition Tips

Who am I?

I am Jim Gallagher, the co-owner of Strength for Life, a personal training studio in Springfield, PA. Over the past 30 plus years, I have been helping people become their best selves by adopting a regular program of exercise.

At one time or another, I have worked in every segment of the fitness industry and have seen the good and bad.  Unfortunately, many fitness centers exist only to line the pockets of their owners with money taken from members who do not show up. That why we developed our own studio, Strength for Life, to make sure that we focus on getting results for our clients.

My mission is to help as many people as possible get in the best shape of their life so they can be the best version of themselves.
